Dear Kirk Family,
April is in the bag, but not without some beautiful highlights. We thank God for five new members and an Easter Sunday attendance of over 200 if you combined both worship services. We had a lovely ladies luncheon and a strong men’s breakfast, We celebrated Kenn and Betty Gangel with a Love Basket that was overflowing. And while our Kirk Café population wasn’t a record breaker everyone went away happy having had a delicious meal and tons of take homes. Oh yes, and this Kirk Café held another benchmark as three generations of women were helping out in the kitchen. How sweet. I’m so proud of the church, it’s beautiful congregation and campus. In April we celebrated the one year anniversary of the Family Worship service and broke ground for the GG’s Place playground in the back. In April our youth held its biggest every Heaven’s Kitchen, to the delight of everyone who attended. Also in April our Concert Committee did a fantastic job of celebrating a 41 year career of Terry Charles, organist and curator.
Now into May and we say it right up front “Happy Mother’s Day!”
May will inspire you in your walk with Jesus at The Kirk. In our 9:00 am Family Worship Service the message series is “The Crossing” a series on how to relate with unbelievers. In our 10:30 am Traditional Worship Service our sermons will focus on “Parables of Jesus”. All of these messages will be based from the reading through the New Testament, which in May is The Gospel of Matthew. So pick it up and give it a read.
I want to invite everyone to a Time Out with Pastor Jerry. I’d love to spend some time with you in a personal relaxed way. I would like to invite everyone to join me on Sunday May 17 after church to load the church shuttle and go to a Tampa Bay Rays Baseball game at the Trop. Oh yes, they are playing my favorite team the Cleveland Indians, but you can cheer for whomever you want. I don’t know ticket prices yet, but we’ll keep the cost down for you. Bring a brownbag lunch or eat a dog at the park. The shuttle has a wheelchair power lift so I hope my wheelchair and walker friends will consider going along too. Let me know, or sign up. We’ll have a fun time together.
Ok, one more thing. Since May is our entrance into the summer months at The Kirk it is very important that we are people of prayer. I will be praying every morning at 7:00 am for you, for the church, for God’s great light to shine through The Kirk. Would you also pray every day at 7 am (or whatever time you can) for the church. Imagine what God could do with such an offering of prayer. The key is to pray every day. We are especially dependent on the Lord in these summer months. God was so very faithful to us last summer. I just know He is waiting to surprise us this summer!
Much love in Christ,
Pastor Jerry
